Hendersonville’s 13th annual Bearfootin’ Art Walk Auction, is coming Oct. 24. The 13th Annual Bearfootin’ Public Art Walk adorns Main Street with artistic creations painted on statues of blank bears and raises awareness for non-profits and the good work they do in the community.
The bears have been positioned on the streets of Historic Downtown Hendersonville since May 8th and on Oct 24 bidder registration, tasty eats and live entertainment begin at 2:30 with the auction scheduled for 4:30.
Each bear represents a different non profit and Hendersonville’s favored tradition of raising funds has broken records with proceeds topping $35,000. These proceeds directly support the variety of local non-profits each bear represents along with the City of Hendersonville’s Downtown Program which hosts and produces the annual Bearfootin’ Public Art Walk.
Downtown Hendersonville is the heart of an economically and culturally vibrant mountain community so yes, they have real bears, but these colorful thought-provoking bears are just a bit more fun and a whole lot safer to be around. This year’s bears represent the Council on Aging for Henderson County, Mainstay, the Flat Rock Playhouse, Blue Ridge Humane Society, Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, Henderson County Young Leaders, Team ECCO, Four Season’s Hospice, and the Henderson County Education Foundation among others.
All you have to do is pick your favorite bear, establish the maximum bid and you’ll be the happy owner of a lovely bear that supports the community of Hendersonville.
