Don’t let the name fool you. X Lanes L.A., which opened in May of this year, is not your typical bowling alley.
Located in the heart of Little Tokyo in DTLA, X Lanes is a fun-filled, family-friendly venue perfect for family get-togethers, date nights and group events.
The 50,000 square-foot entertainment center, illuminated by over 3,000 LED lights, includes: a 24-lane LED-lit bowling alley, a redemption arcade, a nine-table billiard room, a full-service Italian restaurant, a sports bar, and exclusive VIP rooms, along with a photo zone. Director of Operations, Jay Chun, says they wanted to offer a variety of things for people to do at X Lanes, not just bowling. “We wanted customers to have complete family entertainment fun with choices of things to do when arriving here,” says Chun. By the list of options above, it seems they have successfully created that “family entertainment fun” in Little Tokyo.
Chun says they chose Little Tokyo for the location of X Lanes because it is close to downtown, the artist district, the fashion district, and various other districts. “The overall area needed to be revamped to bring family life back into downtown,” says Chun. They are hoping, however, that this is just the first of many locations.
Their vision is to create a “one-stop” family fun center that everyone is able to enjoy. “We would like to see customers walk in with thoughts of fun and excitement, and leave happy and with good memories,” says Chun. However, he does not believe they have fulfilled that vision just yet. “There are things we can improve to enhance the customer experience,” says Chun. “We are still making improvements.” They may still be making improvements on their end, but on the customer end, there isn’t much to complain about. Check out the plethora of fun activities:
The extravagant alley boasts over 100 LED lights, a stereo system with over 200 speakers and projection screens at the end of every lane. In addition to projection screens, there are dozens
of flat screen TVs, so whatever sporting event you are looking for will most likely be showcased somewhere in the giant vicinity. If you’re looking to hold an event, or if you’d rather bowl in a separate area, X Lanes offers two private bowling rooms with four lanes each.
The billiard room is home to nine, brand new, nine-foot Brunswick tables and cue sticks and a little past the pool tables the sports bar glows with numerous, colorful lights. If you’re in the mood for something a bit finer, a full-service American-Italian family restaurant offers everything from Fried Mozzarella to Chicken Piccatta to Linguini Pacifica Scampi. Located in the center of it all is the counter, called the Homerun Area, which is where patrons rent their fashionable bowling shoes.
With an 80-seat banquet hall, three private meeting rooms, a private banquet room and two private bowling rooms (not to mention Karaoke), X Lanes is ideal for birthday parties, social events, fundraisers, holiday parties and corporate events. Event buffet packages, bowling packages and an event specialist are available to help create the precise experience you or your company is looking for.Chun hopes X Lanes will become the destination meeting location for DTLA and the surrounding areas. Their main goal is to make everyone happy. “We want everyone to have a great time and make memories that will last,” says Chun. “We are not perfect, although we try our best. Let us know how we can improve so that customers can have the best experience possible with us!”
Hundreds of games including Dance, Dance Revolution and Street Fighter are at your mercy in the arcade area located next to the alleys. The variety of game genres also include bike racing, car racing and sports, such as basketball. The arcade “Winner’s Area” offers a wide selection of redemption prizes to reward your arcade accomplishments.
